Make a healthy start to the new year! Your 2024 benefits elections are in effect. If you’re enrolled in the FedEx Corporation Group Health Plan, the Choose Well Care Connect site can help you prepare before you actually need care. When you’re not feeling well or your child is sick, that’s the worst time to have to look for an ID card or figure out how to access your health care accounts. You can save yourself time and energy and maximize your benefits by taking a moment to get in-the-know now.
Below is a list of important things to keep in mind and actions you can take to stay informed and ready to Choose Well in 2024.
ID and payment cards
If you enrolled in a FedEx medical, dental, or vision plan option, your ID card(s) were mailed to your home address in December.* Coverage was effective January 1, 2024. However, if you don’t have your card when you visit the doctor, it’s now easier than ever to access online. Just call Choose Well Care Connect at 1.833.FDXWELL (339.9355) or visit the administrator’s website.

Using your accounts to pay for eligible expenses.
-
Depending on the plan option you enrolled in, don’t forget to utilize your accounts! You may have either a Health Reimbursement Accounts (HRA) or a Health Savings Accounts (HSA), and if you enrolled, a Health Care and/or Dependent Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA).
-
Optum Financial cards are used for HRA, HSA, and/or Health Care FSA accounts. Like credit/debit cards, they can be used online or at eligible provider locations to pay for eligible expenses. You can view eligible expenses for each type of account at the Optum Financial website: myoptumfinancial.com/fedex.
-
The HRA is an account fully credited by FedEx to help cover you and your family's eligible medical and behavioral health expenses when you enroll in an HRA-eligible FedEx medical plan option. No action is required on your part to receive the base HRA credits, so don’t forget to take advantage of them!
-
The HSA is a tax-advantaged medical savings account to which you and FedEx can contribute money. Be sure to open your HSA bank account to receive your FedEx-provided HSA contributions. You do not have to contribute to the HSA to qualify for the FedEx HSA funding. To open your HSA bank account, connect with a Care Advocate.
-
Health Care and Dependent Care FSA-eligible plan options allow employees to set aside pre-tax dollars from each paycheck to pay for eligible out-of-pocket expenses. (The Health Care FSA can be used for dental and vision eligible expenses also.) If you enrolled, funds are available on the Optum Financial payment card. Remember, when you have a qualifying medical expense, the Health Care FSA must be used first, then you can use the HRA credits.
-
The order of the accounts used continues to be Health Care FSA > HRA > HSA.
-
If you (and your spouse) are enrolled in an HSA or HRA medical plan option and confirmed watching the $100 credit video during Annual Benefits Enrollment, the credits/contributions were applied to your account in mid-January. If enrolled in an HSA medical plan option, your HSA bank account must be open and active to receive the contribution. If you haven’t watched the video yet, it’s not too late. If eligible, you can still earn $100 toward your HRA/HSA.. Click here or visit the “Earn $100 in HRA Credit or HSA Contribution” banner on the Choose Well Care Connect home page. If you watch the video after the enrollment period and through February 29, 2024 you will receive eligible funding by the end of March 2024.
-
New HRA rollover rules will begin January 1, 2025. The grandfathered HRA is being sunsetted. The $1,000 HRA rollover will apply with any credits accumulated together in the grandfathered, base HRA, and any earned HRA credits. If this applies to you, you’ll still have the full 2024 calendar year to use the grandfathered HRA.
-
Remember, the Your Choice plan option is all-copay for medical and pharmacy. For simplicity, there is no HRA or HSA associated with Your Choice.
-
If you were enrolled in a Health Care FSA in 2023 and have unused funds, you can continue to submit 2023 expenses through March 31, 2024. Unused funds up to $500 can be rolled over for use in 2024 after March 31, 2024.

- 2ndMD surgery decision support is still available to help you if you’re faced with a surgery, but the Second Opinion program is no longer required, but still a great resource.
- There are age reductions for basic and supplemental life insurance. See your opco specific supplement for more details.
- Remember to designate or update the beneficiaries on your basic and supplemental life insurance and basic and supplemental accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, so your intended beneficiaries receive your benefits. If you have a beneficiary designated but fail to make updates after a life event (like marriage, divorce, birth, or adoption), the person listed will still receive the benefits – even if you’re divorced or remarried. Employees can add, change, edit, or remove beneficiaries at any time. See your opco specific supplement for more details. Connect with a Care Advocate for details on updating beneficiary information.
